The Roadmap to Île Sainte-Hélène: Previewing Osheaga 2026

The countdown has officially begun for one of the most anticipated music events worldwide. From July 31 to August 2, 2026, Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau will once again transform into an island oasis of heavy basslines, screaming guitars, and stunning skyline views for the 19th edition of the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival.

With an impressive 87-act lineup that skillfully balances global pop blockbusters with alternative and indie rock, this year's festival is going to be one of its most exciting iterations yet. Here is your essential primer on what to look out for before the gates open.

The Headliners:

Osheaga’s 2026 headliner curation spans three distinct musical corners, ensuring each night closes with a completely unique energy.

  • Friday, July 31: Twenty One Pilots — Returning to the festival for the first time since 2015, the duo arrives fresh off the back of their latest album, Breach. Expect a high-octane, theatrical performance designed to shake the massive main stage foundations.

  • Saturday, August 1: Tate McRae — Canada’s reigning pop superstar takes the Saturday night mantle. This performance is billed as her only Canadian festival date of the year, promising a heavily choreographed, hit-fueled pop spectacle.

  • Sunday, August 2: Lorde — Wrapping up the weekend is a familiar face. Marking her third career appearance at Osheaga (following memorable sets in 2014 and 2017), the alternative-pop icon is set to deliver a deeply atmospheric, communal sunset finale.

Must-See Non-Headlining Sets

This year’s Osheaga includes a blend of long-awaited reunions and an array of talented smaller artists.

The Great Reunions & Triumphant Returns

The xx returns to the stage together for the first time since 2018, their Friday night set already reading like a moment rather than a performance. The opening day deepens its moodier palette with The Neighbourhood, bringing their brooding California alt-pop back into festival light, alongside the understated cult magnetism of British indie favourites Wet Leg.

The Saturday Indie-Rock Roster

Saturday is defined by volume, texture, and controlled chaos. Fresh off an early-2026 Grammy win, hardcore provocateurs Turnstile are expected to deliver one of the weekend’s most physically charged sets, equal parts catharsis and collision. Earlier in the day, Montreal hosts a long-anticipated debut from synth-pop maximalists Empire of the Sun, while Franz Ferdinand and Viagra Boys bring their signature sounds to the stage.

Viral Resurgences & Local Pride

Canadian rock band Wolf Parade re-emerge into a renewed cultural spotlight, propelled by a viral resurgence of their defining track “I’ll Believe in Anything.” Their presence marks the beginning of a broader national lineup; 26 Canadian acts in total, including 14 artists from Quebec such as Bob Moses, Virginie B, and Super Plage.
