Tate McRae’s two-night run at Rogers Arena was more than just a homecoming; it was a full-circle moment. The 23-year-old, born in Calgary, has come a long way since playing the intimate Vogue Theatre back in 2018. Watching her command a sold-out arena stage in 2025, it’s clear she’s stepped confidently into her role as one of pop’s biggest rising stars.

The night kicked off with a powerful opening set from Swedish popstar Zara Larsson, who’s riding a wave of renewed buzz thanks to the viral resurgence of her 2018 track “Symphony.” With a mix of infectious energy and stunning vocals, she sang hits such as “Ruin My Life,” “Ain’t My Fault,” “Lush Life,” and the crowd-favorite “Never Forget You.” Between her choreography and effortless stage presence, Larsson set the tone perfectly for the night; polished, high-energy, and unapologetically pop.

McRae took things to the next level. The Miss Possessive Tour is built for arenas — pyrotechnics lit up the stage, dancers moved with machine-like precision, and the entire production felt sharp, artistic, and skillfully crafted. But even with all the spectacle, McRae never lost the emotional thread. She moved between dance-heavy bangers and vulnerable songs with ease, never missing a beat vocally.

Before the main show, VIP fans were treated to an intimate soundcheck, where McRae performed a stripped-down cover of Justin Bieber’s “Yukon” — a moment made even sweeter by the fact that she once sang backup for Bieber when she was just 12. It was a quiet reminder of just how long she’s been putting in the work.

Across both nights, she pulled out surprises for longtime fans. On night one, she performed “Rubberband,” a rarely played gem from her 2018 TOO YOUNG TO BE SAD EP. Then, on night two, she sat alone at the piano and played “One Day,” her debut song that went viral on YouTube when she was just 15. “This is the first song I ever posted on YouTube,” she said to the crowd. “Sing along if you know it.” Afterward, she smiled wide: “Wow, you guys are OGs.”

From her earliest YouTube uploads to commanding back-to-back nights at Rogers Arena, Tate McRae has been building to this moment — and she’s never sounded, danced, or looked more ready.
