On October 11th, aespa made their Vancouver debut and the city showed up in full force.
Rogers Arena was packed wall to wall, filled with pink light sticks and signs from loving fans. For many fans, this wasn't just a concert; it was a chance to dive head first into the aespa universe.
The show started with a striking intro video that cast fans straight into aespa's fantasy world that they've carefully constructed with their music videos. They started with "LEMONADE", the title track from their 2nd studio album released in May of last year.
Synced choreography mesmerized the audience on the t-shaped stage, while confetti canons and fog machines filled the stage. Large screens revealed a close up look at the outfit changes throughout the night, which ranged from white princess-like gowns to black leather outfits.
Fans eagerly sang along to 24 of their favourite songs including: "Black Mamba", "Armageddon", "KISS N TELL", and "Supernova". The first of two dual performances of the night were performed by Giselle and Ningning for their song "Lollipop". Between the dual performances were solos from each of the girls, with Karina performing "16 Bit", Winter performing "Saddle Up", Giselle performing "BYEB4HELLO" and Ninging wrapping up the solo portion of the concert with "I Love You But I Gotta Let You Go". The second dual performance of the night was Karina and Winter for their song "Serenade".
Nearing the end of the night, Giselle called out "are you just going to let us go?", which sent the crowd wild with excitement for the unexpected encore. The night was full of dancers, artistic visuals and stand out performances that captured the fans imaginations. Despite Giselle and Winter sharing that they were feeling sick, both delivered powerful performances and kept the crowd locked in from start to finish.
For fans this was more than a concert, this was a journey through the world of aespa and a night Vancouver will not forget.
