Fall is kicking off, and we’re already busy with plenty of great local music events! Here’s our guide to navigating what’s going on this weekend in Vancouver!
Thursday September 10th: Guile / Ape War / Strays / Hallucide @ Red Gate Arts Society
It would be one thing if this was JUST a stacked bill of hardcore, punk and screamo, but on top of that, it’s also a fundraiser for the Downtown Eastside’s Women’s Shelter. Come throw down, mosh, get a little crazy, and support the unhoused in our city at the same time. With veterans like Guile and Ape War, the self-proclaimed lofi-djent pop of Hallucide and new hardcore breakouts Strays, there’s really no reason to miss this if you need something loud, fast and heavy to get you through to the weekend.

Friday September 11th: Mother Sun / Dreamhorse / Shimbashi Station / T & The Biscuits @ Green Auto Pop-Up Stage
It’s not summer anymore (technically it is, but doesn’t it just feel like fall already?), and to celebrate the changing season, Green Auto has got a decidedly and perfectly curated Autumn-y gig for you. Featuring the blissful lo-fi psych-inflected indie rock of Mother Sun, Dreamhorse’s sweet, nostalgic soft-shoegaze and the bright electric retro guitar pop sound of Shimbashi Station, this mixed bill is set to give you the low-key, warm fuzzy vibes you’re looking for this fall.

Friday September 11th: Teflon Spine’s 2nd Annual September Eleventh @ Red Gate Arts Society
If you’re looking for something a little bit left of center, check out this showcase at Red Gate! Featuring a plethora of artists across the spectrum of experimental music, from ambient to tape loops to harsh noise and everything in between, this show is sure to challenge and fascinate you. Come discover something new, and see something you haven’t seen before!

Friday September 12th: Alley Fest @ Red Gate Arts Society (Back Alley)
Doesn’t get much better than a FREE OUTDOOR SHOW, now does it? With a multi-genre bill of ten artists, including Whitney K, Stank, Anchoress, Transient, Good For It and much more, this show in the alley behind Red Gate is a must see this weekend. Did we mention it’s FREE? TEN ARTISTS? FOR FREE??? What else can we say? You got to be there.
